After visiting over 100 countries, Professor Wang Wen, who is also a Senior Fellow at the Counsellors Office of the State Council of China, noted that the BRI has made great progress globally. The BRI has consolidated multiple fields. Domestic policy from the central to local governments has increasingly matured and international cooperation has promoted the implementation of the BRI, leading to policy coordination, facilities connectivity, unimpeded trade, financial integration, and person-to-person bonds. However, Professor Wang emphasized that anxiety about China's rise has spread globally and widespread concern has been voices regarding the threats of the BRI.
Professor Wang notes the future of the BRI will be characterized by current entry into Stage 2.0, which is a period of high-quality development that aims to integrate China’s “century dream” with the establishment of green, open, tolerant, clean and innovative Silk Road.
