UCAS Accommodation Regulation

These regulations are designed to ensure that students’ accommodation and surrounding areas are a safe and comfortable environment for living and learning.

Enrolment
  • The student should enroll at the reception with their student smartcard.
  • The student should accompany the staff checking the facilities in their dorm(including the fire safety equipment, furniture, door/window, toilet, water and electrics meter, and other electrical appliance). Have confirmed and agreed with the result/report, student should sign.
Cleaning
  • Students are expected to keep their rooms and residence areas clean and tidy.
  • Only the students’ personal stationeries and living necessities are allowed to store in the room. All the stuffs should be set in order.
  • Do not spit, or throw cigarette butts and litter about.
  • All kinds of the garbage and litters should be place in the dustbin.
  • Any sort of unauthorized redecorating is not permitted, such as writing, doodling and sticking paintings to the wall.
  • Students are not allowed to set cords for drying clothes in rooms or along corridors.
  • To ensure the handover to next tenant goes on well, the students should clean their room before moving out.
Safety
  • Entering the residence building, please show the Identification (student card). Cooperating with the security when you are asked to show the identification or when the security need to check the goods and objects you taking into the residence area.
  • Students are responsible for their own valuables or cash. Laptop should be equipped with lock. Residents shall ensure that external doors or windows are locked when they leave the room.
  • Students should not install electrical wiring in their rooms or public areas unless with the permission from Accommodation management office and under the supervision of specialist when installing the electrical wiring.
  • Students are not allowed to store or use the following items in their rooms: Microwave Ovens, spirit stoves, electrical stoves, briquette stoves, kerosene stoves, electric cookers, solid fuels, rice cooker, electric radiator, electric heating blanket, electric kettle, hot pot, liquid gas stoves or any other unauthorized electrical device.
  • It is strictly forbidden to store and set off fireworks anywhere in or near the residence areas. Any sort of combustible, explosive, radioactive, corrosive or poisonous material which may cause damage or constitute a treat to health and safety are strictly forbidden anywhere in or near the residence areas.
  • Smoking in bed is forbidden. The mosquito incense should be kept away from inflammable objects.
  • Do not burn/ignite waste in the residence area.
  • No student shall misuse or destroy any fire detection, fire prevention, fire safety or firefighting equipment.
  • Storing of any kind of personal objects using public area is not allowed. Storage must not block fire extinguishers, fire alarm pull stations, emergency or exit lighting, access to evacuation routes, the exit door, emergency equipment, or entry of emergency personnel.
  • For the prevention of falling accidents, residents must not display any item on their external windowsills or balcony (such as flower pots).
  • For social events in resident area with large number of participants, the student should inform the Student Affairs Office and apply for the permission.
  • Relatives and acquaintance should show their proof of identity and register at the reception when visiting the residence at dorm. Residents are not allowed to bring strangers in the residence area.
  • With the permission from Accommodation Management office, authorized staffs (with the number two or above) could enter the room and manage safety check, hygiene check and meter check, or other maintenance service; under urgent condition, Accommodation Management Department have the right to take necessary measures.
  • The residents have the responsibilities and obligations to maintain the safety of dorm. Reporting any suspicious circumstance or potential fire hazard to the Accommodation Management Office. In case of fire and other emergency, the student should try to deal calmly, then contact the police and Accommodation Management Office.
Behavior
  • Students are not permitted from making excessive noise, having excessive drink, gambling, fighting in the residence area. Residents shall not play ball games, playing music and TV with high volume which may disturb the other tenants.
  • Visitors and non-residents are not supposed to stay later than 23:00 on the day.
  • The students should have a harmonious and friendly relationship, be generous and deal with the disputes and conflicts rationally. Do not insult, offend or fight with the other students.
  • Unauthorized selling of goods or services within residences is forbidden. Students should not bring sales into the residence area. The telephone in dorm is not allowed for external advertising or promotional use.
  • Bicycles (including electric bicycles) and other vehicles should be parked in designated bicycle storage area. Tenants should not drive or ride in the residence area.
  • Tenants are not permitted to keep any pets or poultry in their rooms or elsewhere in residence.
  • Residents should dress in clean and tidy manner in the residence area. Do not bare foot and bare back in the public area.
Accommodation Management
  • During the study time at university, the students should reside at UCAS accommodation. For specific reason, the students who want to live off-campus should hand in hard copy application. With the permission from the Institute or the Research Center where the students registered, the application will be passed to Student Management Department for permission. When approved, the result will be notified to Accommodation Management and NO BED/ROOM will be reserved for these students.
  • The bed is for the assigned student only; exchanging bed/room or renting is not forbidden.
  • Residents are not permitted to change the door lock or add any kind of lock to the door. Residents must not make copies of their keys. Residents must return keys at the end of their stay to the Accommodation Management Office.
  • If the resident wishes to leave the accommodation before the accommodation agreement has expired, or to extend their stay after the accommodation agreement has expired, the resident should ask the Student Affairs Office for permission, and pay the additional charges including the accommodation fee and electrical/water fee. If the resident did not get the official permission from Student Affairs Office, and failed to clean and leave their apartment at required time, the Accommodation Management Office will charge 100 yuan a day for the accommodation fee, while the electric/water fee will be charged accordingly. And if the student refuse to leave the dorm, the Accommodation Management Office has the right to take coercive measures.
  • Once the student noticed the facilities or appliances are broken, they should report to the Accommodation Management Office. The fee causing by the delayed report broken facilities should be paid by students. The students should pay for the objects damaged during their residence in the room.
Charging
  • For the 1st year students, the student has 15 degree electricity and 3 ton cold water for free. For the use of electricity/water over the limit, university will charge according to the standard set by Beijing Municipals.
  • For senior students and Phd. Students, the electricity/water fee is charged according to the standard set by Beijing Municipals. No free electricity and water is offered.
