Sino-Danish College was established upon the approval of the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China in September 2011, functioning as the educational base of SDC. Sino-Danish Center for Research and Education was jointly developed by UCAS, Danish Ministry of Higher Education and Science (the former Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation), and eight Danish Universities (including University of Copenhagen, Aarhus University, University of Southern Denmark, Aalborg University, Roskilde University, Technical University of Denmark, Copenhagen Business School and IT University of Copenhagen), which provides a platform for undertaking joint research activities and exchanging scientific staff between China and Denmark.
SDC focuses on the following 5 scientific fields, including 7 programs: (a) Water and environment (water and environment); (b) Life sciences (neuroscience and imaging, omics); (c) Nanoscience and nanotechnology (nanoscience and nanotechnology); (d) Sustainable energy (bio-energy); (e) Social sciences (innovation management and public management).
SDC has organized more than 76 courses for every academic year. Through fusion of science and education, more than 120 Chinese and 200 Danish lecturers have actively participating in teaching. All SDC courses are taught in English. Teaching methodologies encourage interdisciplinary approaches, creative thinking and innovation. SDC practices the dual-supervisor system, combines advanced research and educational resources from China and Denmark and cultivates top-level talents with international perspective and international competitiveness. Graduates will be conferred degrees from both the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Danish cooperative university while meeting all the requirements from both universities.
There are around 50 PhD students and 160 master students from China, Denmark and other countries come to SDC to study each year.
